Description
- Iodine is bactericidal, fungicidal, and virucidal. It is a naturally occurring element used in a range of disinfection applications. However, FAM 30 is significantly different to disinfectants used on human skin due to the type of iodine used and several added ingredients.
- It is a powerful disinfectant, which is very well matched with surfactant (surface active agent). Surfactant allows the iodine to penetrate surfaces and organic material where pathogens are present and harder to kill.
- As an oxidising agent, iodine reacts quickly to kill pathogens fast.
- Its brown colour in solution acts as an identifier and it is not as corrosive as other disinfectants, such as peroxygen-based ingredients.
- FAM 30 only contains elemental iodine, and not the less effective PVP-iodine.
- Authorised GB/NI and EU Biocide (BPR)
Extremely powerful and fast acting.
Defra Approved (Foot & Mouth, Swine Vesicular, Poultry, TB and General Orders)

GENERAL CLEANING AND DISINFECTION:
When using in livestock housing: Remove all portable equipment, litter and manure and clean
to remove heavy soiling. Apply disinfectant after adjusting the dilution to suit soil level and/or
disease specific history of the house — i.e. between one part FAM®30 to between 100 and 550
parts of water. Allow the area to dry if possible before replacing equipment and restocking. Also
use a solution of FAM®30 to treat buckets, cages, hatchery trays, drinkers, crates and other nonporous
surfaces.
WHEEL AND BOOT DIPS:
Use at a dilution of 1:90 and renew daily.
AERIAL DISINFECTION:
Apply at a suitable dilution rate through a mist generator.
OTHER USES:
FAM®30 is a powerful and versatile detergent disinfectant, which may be used for a variety of
applications in animal husbandry. In the event of a notifiable disease outbreak in the UK, follow
the DEFRA approved dilutions as shown on the label and if used for PRRS (Blue Ear Disease)
dilute 1:200 with water.
FISH NETS, HOLDING TANKS AND CRATES:
Use FAM®30 at a dilution of 1:100 to prevent the spread of disease in ponds and fisheries.
COW FOOTBATHS:
Use FAM®30 at a dilution of 1:100
Further information on specific uses and dilutions is available on request.
Please see the FAM®30 MICROBIOLOGICAL PROFILE for all other dilution rate advice and
test results.
FOR USE IN UK AND EUROPE:
Specific uses and dilution rates are required by the Biocidal Products Regulation.
Please see product label for details.
